Blue Dragon Herbs® is
dedicated to using only the purest, highest quality, chemical-free
herbs
for our full spectrum
herbal extracts. Most of the herbs used in production come directly
from China and are harvested from specific bio-regions according
to ancient cultural tradiditions. Standardized extractions of a
few non-Chinese herbs, such as Milk Thistle from Europe and Ginkgo
Biloba from the U.S., have been added to several of the formulas
to boost their strength and potency.
Blue Dragon Herbs uses a time-tested extraction process that utilizes
all natural solvents. No hexane or ethers are used in production.
All formulas are in a low alcohol and vegetable glycerice base.
Alcohol has been an important ingredient for herbal products in
both China and the West for centuries. It is a strong polar solvent
which means it has the ability to pull the medicinal constituents
out of the herbs quite easily. Alcohol also acts as a preservative
for the finished extract. It is an excellent carrier of active
ingredients, enhancing both bio-availability and ease of assimilation.
The nutritional components of liquid extracts are immediately available
for assimilation by the body. This means more effecient use of
the herb, as well as improved results.
Blue Dragon Herbal Liquid Extractions can be served in a teacup or, more
commonly, in a higher concentrated form, served warm in a sake
flask, a shot or brandy glass. The delicate aroma and slightly
sweet taste of the herbal Liquid Extractions are most fully appreciated in
these more concentrated methods of serving. The goal of Blue Dragon
herbs is to produce an elixir that is not only potent and effective,
but also delicious. The percentage of alcohol in the Blue Dragon
shot Liquid Extractions has been kept at 22%, much lower than the up to 60%
alcohol content of some herbal tinctures. When the bitterness or
the alcohol is blended with the sweetness of the vegetable gylcerine
(a naturally sweet and syrupy by-product of olive oil extraction)
the two tastes balance or cancel each other out, leaving an elixir
that has neither the bitterness and harshness of the alcohol nor
the overly sweet taste found in pure glycerine based products.
This blending allows the delicate aroma and subtle flavours of
the herbs to come through and be appreciated.

Jing
Essence Tonics is our inherited constitutional strength
which determines longevity, physical and sexual energy, mental stamina,
fertility and courage. Jing is burned up by life itself, but especially
by chronic stress and illness, overwork, and sexual
excess. Jing Essence Tonics replace this spent energy and to build up
reserves for future use.
Chi
Energy Tonics Chi (pronounced Chee) is the vital energy
we take into our body though breathing and eating. Chi manifests as our
drive, passion for living and achieving, and is also the raw material
for a properly functioning immune system. Chi tonics build energy by improving
the effeciency and strength of our lungs and digestive system.
Shen
Spirit Tonics Shen is our Spirit, which resides in
our hearts and is the light which shines from our eyes. It reflects our
higher nature as human beings and is expressed as compassion, love, kindness,
generosity, forgiveness and wisdom. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM),
the Five Emotions, also called the Five Demons, fear, anger, excess joy
or mania, worry and grief or sadness are said to be the primary causative
factors in declining health and disease. Of course, emotions are a natural
part of existance; no human escapes ever being sad, angry or worried
sometimes. The emotions only become causes of disease when they are particulary
intense or prolonged, especially when not expressed or acknowledged.
